MAKING MUSIC IN LISBON and PODCAST PREVIEW

It’s finally April in Portugal and I’m eagerly anticipating the last of my cultural ambassadors before a working return to the San Francisco Bay Area until mid-June. Some exciting music opportunities are developing for my return to Lisbon in June, and I’ve been out in the music community to hear and to sing.

MEANWHILE, I’ve been having technical adventures trying to get the FIRST SEASON of my PODCAST up on to Apple Podcasts and beyond. While that crusade continues, I have a full season preview for you, the readers of this newsletter. Access it HERE - The Prequel to The Lisbon Project. It gives voice to my blogs beginning in 2016, which are newly relevant given the context of our country once again under siege. The final episode of Season One takes place in 2023, as I seriously contemplate my move to Lisbon in a post-pandemic voyage.

APRIL IN PORTUGAL - a protest, a club crawl, and the anticipated arrival of BETH di San Francisco

@ogilinslisbon we heard the fab fiddle player @carlos.violinist with the Melting Pot Irish Band. @ma_lingua musician friend @joaquimshaka invited me to hear him debut a new song, and I grooved on the jam all evening.

@lasharada Sheldon Forrest and I have been sitting in at the jazz jam every Thursday night (and enjoying their amazing GF pizza). @paraiso45lisboa we may well be hosting a Tuesday Open Mic starting mid-June. We’ll keep you posted on that.

@duquedarua_fado club, Sheldon and I hope for a June return to perform a full evening of international jazz standards. And in just a few days, the fabulous Beth di San Francisco will be hosted at Studio NPG Lisboa; I’m planning her cultural itinerary now, with historic neighborhood walks, music clubs and museums.

And yes, we did join the HANDS OFF! protest in Lisbon on April 5, uniting with about 800 other expats to defend our rights.
